Holi is a festival that is celebrated across the country. While different regions celebrate the festival in different ways, the core essence of the festival remains the same. Holi 2023 in most parts of India will be celebrated on March 8, however, Maharashtra will celebrate Holi on March 7. Check the state wise Holi date.

Holi, the festival of colours is celebrated across the country with a lot of joy and exuberance. The two-day festival is celebrated on Purnima or the full moon night of the Phalguna month. The first day is known as Holika Dahan and the second day is celebrated as Holi.

On the night of Holika Dahan, people lit pyres to mark the victory of good over evil. According to several legends, it is believed that on this day, demoness Holika, the sister of asura King Hiranyakashipu was burnt to ashes. The next day on Holi, people worship Lord Krishna and his consort, Radha. Holi is also a festival which is celebrated as the eternal and divine love between Krishna and Radha. Holi 2023 will be celebrated on March 8 and Holika Dahan will be celebrated on March 7.
